A comprehensive study that followed 40,547 adults between the ages of 20 and 90, over a period of more than three decades, found that swimmers were 50% less likely to die during the study, than walkers, runners and couch potatoes. Researchers believe that swimming's low-injury risk and joint-friendly cardio provides lifelong fitness for longer life.
